scalable
visual space model
autonomously moving content carriers allow topology changes in the visual composition.
- attention based scaling of content
- use of binary tree for creation of space subdivision for collision checking
Defining
Digital Space Through a Visual Language
SMArchS Thesis, MIT June 2000
After
the initial series of experiments it became clear that the limitation of the
fixed topology out- weighs its advantages if applied to more general sets of
information. For an image library with very similar elements the fixed topology
with neighbor relations makes sense, however, for evolving sets of information
with diverse properties it seemed more plausible to come up with a method that
allowed for reconfiguration of the neighborhood relations.
